Categories

Ticket categories: buttons, emoji, channel name templates, staff roles, opening messages and the questions asked before a ticket opens.

A category is one kind of ticket. Each one becomes a button on any panel you add it to.

Changing a category

/ticket-admin category edit category:support with no other options shows the category's current settings. Add any option to change it:

  • name, parent, button-label, button-style
  • emoji (use none to remove it)
  • add-staff-role, remove-staff-role
  • template, to change the channel name (see below)
  • position, the sort order, lowest first
  • enabled, to stop or resume new tickets in this category

Changes to the button show up on posted panels straight away.

Opening message and description

/ticket-admin category text category:support opens a form with two fields:

  • Short description, shown at the top of every new ticket.
  • Opening message, what the member sees when their ticket opens. Markdown works.

Questions before a ticket opens

/ticket-admin category questions category:support opens a form with five question slots. Fill in as many as you need and leave the rest blank.

  • Questions are required by default. End one with (optional) to let people skip it.
  • Each question can be up to 45 characters (a Discord limit).
  • Answers appear in the ticket's opening post and at the top of its transcript.

Channel name templates

The template option controls ticket channel names. The default is {emoji}-{number}-{username}, which gives names like 🛠-0042-lunar.

TokenBecomes
{number}Ticket number, padded to four digits: 0042
{n}Ticket number without padding: 42
{username}The opener's username, lowercased
{userid}The opener's user ID
{category}The category slug
{emoji}The category emoji (custom emoji are left out, since channel names cannot hold them)
{date}The day the ticket opened, 2026-09-16

Names are lowercased and limited to 100 characters. A username with no usable characters becomes user.

Removing a category

/ticket-admin category remove category:support

A category that has never had a ticket is deleted. One with ticket history is disabled instead, so its old tickets stay searchable; its button disappears from every panel.
